Since a good sized thunderstorm a few weeks ago, I have had my front corner lamps about half full of water. I am assuming that I am not alone, and wondered if anyone has figured out where to drill to let them drain without it being terribly obvious.

Hold On!

Before you go draining those lights I think you should read this valuable information I found on the Land Rover Web sight:

"Water in the taillights:
This, in fact, is a standard feature of the "Discovery" model. The Solihull design team correctly identified the need for water-cooled brake lights for use in city environments where the brake light is on for extended periods. It can be ordered from most LR outlets, as can the top-up kit consisting of: (a)One litre of Lens-Water (b)Utensils, pouring (c.) grease, dielectric.

It is actually more in the front, but now that you mention it, I do use my turn signals almost every time I turn... They probably get warm too. Maybe I will just leave it. Better yet, maybe I can find a market for my "modified" lights... Any takers??

I don't use my blinkers. It's nobody's business where I'm going.

I had the same problem in my D1. I drilled two small holes in the bottom corners of the turn signals. The water will drain right out. I know this is not a fix but it is a solution. I have had not ill effects.

Drill it

Remove the turn signal and take a look at the back side. You will probably be able to identify where the seal has failed that is allowing water into the lens. I applied a silicon sealant and then drilled the bottom corner closest to the rear of the vehicle.

Had the same thing happen on the d/s taillight assy on my DII. Replaced the bulb circuit board & seal & it still leaked. Drilled 1) 1/16" hole @ the base of the lense & it's worked for ~ 3mos now.
