What do I do with the Paint Code?

Alright, so I've decided what color I want to paint my Rover (this is hypothetical, since I still am debating between about 10 different colors!)

I've found out that one of the paint codes (Helsinki Blue) is LRC.848. Let's say I choose this color for the sake of discussion.

What do I do with this number? I can't imagine that I can walk into a paint store and request color LRC848 nor Helsinki Blue. The LR dealership near me is definitely not a "stealership" and I bet that they'd be able to provide a color sample for this, but is there a better way?

Does LRC848 correspond to anything outside of the LR world?

Additionally, has anyone had any success with a particular paint? I'm planning on using a HVLP sprayer and would like to add mica and metallics (NOT blingy...just an updated color).

Any advice is greatly, greatly appreciated.

Cheers

What color was that you want to use?? I don't see it in the above official SERIES colors! lol!!

Above were the colors Series LRs used and the respective paint code. If you want to use that Hel Blue, I'd ask the dealer what is the manufacture code like above and then you can have your local supplier make a batch for you.

Good luck on choosing a color. We just made that decision for a IIA 109 P/U - Sandstone.

Most good quality paint stores, for example a DuPont paint dealer, should be able to cross reference most paint codes. If you have a sample of it, they can also color match using a camera system similar to what you find at hardware stores.

Paint Codes

A note of thanks to all that offered information - I like the idea of a paint supply house being able to cross-reference the paint code. I think I'll try this approach.
