What is Box on Left Side of Luggage Space - D5

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my LR4 with a Disco 5 of a later model year. I've noticed that on various images there is a box with an air ventilation cover/grill on the left hand side of the luggage space, seen from the rear, and in other cases that space is instead hollow providing more luggage space. Could that have anything to do with the optional cold climate plus pack to do?

Anyone who knows about this and could enlighten me?

Kind regards,
Crispen

Thanks a lot for explaining Rocky, very kind of you!

I assume that means more of a heavy duty heater compared to the standard, ie warming up the cabin quicker. Do you know if there is anything else included in this pack (box), such as pre-conditioning cabin via mobile app and heated windscreen and steering wheel? Reason for asking is that the seller states the vehicle has the cold climate plus pack with those featers but the photo shows the hollow space (the Disco is far away so I've not had the chance of testing it yet).

Just by looking there is no way to tell if Rear AC or Rear HVAC on any car includes something else, you must have a build sheet, sticker or inspection.

A "pack" is typically short for "package" and may include more than one item. It is complicated with Land Rovers. You don't know a pack without a sticker.

I would first look for an "optioned out" Discovery with the actual sticker where you can see what options and packages are. This only helps though as sometimes a vehicle sticker just has them in a list, i.e. it. is included in a certain trim level OR it is listed as a single option OR it is listed in a pack.

Always ask seller to give you the output from MonroneyLabels.com and Carfax.com. OR if you are serious pay for it yourself.

X2 what Bri said. I am not impressed with the base HVAC in the 5 seater. Seeing the sticker you can see every package to ensure it has low range, EAS, 7 seats, cold climate pack, etc. Just download the vehicle brochure and it will have a breakdown of what is included in each. A bit tedious at first but ensures you get the options you want

Thanks Howski! I was hoping it was a simple matter but now understand it ain't. On top of what you and Bri write, there are apparently various specs of standard features and options, including what they they list, according to different markets.

The additional stuff in the rear cargo compartment is associated with the rear AC

I'm not actually familiar with the D5 but on all previous models (my 2013 LR4 and 2004 D2 included), "rear ac" is an option and includes rear seat HVAC controls, rear vents, and the additional mechanical components in the rear cargo area. If you don't have rear ac then the rear seat passengers only receive the ac or heat that the front dash vents can blow back there. There may be some small dedicated vents for the 2nd row (like on the back of the center cubby box) but the whole point is that all HVAC is relying on a single system designed from the front seats. Rear ac (or 3 or 4 zone climate control or whatever they call it now) is the option you need for rear passengers if you are in a hot climate. My 2004 D2 did not have rear ac and it was miserable back there for my kids, would never have a SUV again without rear ac.

Start by looking at trim levels that include every option you want, make seller pay for monroney label.

I tried to find an L405 with Tow package, learher headliner, vented seats, visions and drive packs..,

In the end easier to find an Autobiography. Had more options than I wanted though.

As I understand it, the D5 can have four zone HVAC controls and still not the extended HVAC unit in the luggage area. Anyone who has experienced the D5 four zone with and without the extended HVAC?
