I have an antifreeze leak coming from a hose/pipe on my 96 Disco, it starts at the front of the radiator as a hard piece of about 1/2" pipe with a screw connection. heads down. follows along radiator, takes a bend toward the rear of the vehicle where It has a crimp connector to change it to a flexible hose. for about 6" than another crimp connector that changes to back to the hard pipe . any ideas what this is called? I cant find it on any sites.

No. But your front cover gasket will. Or it could be a combo of both.
You should pressure test the cooling system and see where it's comming from.

I thought it was my front cover gasket but was told that Antifreeze is not behind that cover but the timing chain. have you had this problem?

Who ever told you that.....don't go back there. That person must have your truck confused with an old VW.
The coolant galley for the water pump runs through the front cover. As do several oil galleys. Therefore, when the gasket goes, guess what comes out.

I've changed many front cover gaskets on Rover V8s.

It's common problem. However you should have the system pressure tested to see exactly where the leaks are comming from.

I usually find the source is the intake gasket dripping down from the heads onto the trans cooler lines. If it's at the back of the engine, then it's either intake or head gasket. If it's at the front, it might also be the front cover.

Well I powerwashed the front of the engine and the truck has been sitting for 2 days. still have a puddle underneath...a new puddle. I can see where the Antifreeze ir running down where the front cover meets the block. Im 99% sure thats where its coming from. I had the system pressure tested and they found NO leak....... how hard of a job is it to change the front cover gasket?? I have to change the waterpump and figured ill do the FC gacket at the same time. I see that the 2 front bolts from the oil pan screw into the FC. do I need to drain the oil AND the Antifreeze? Im surprised that since the truck has been sitting that the AF it still leaking from near the top of the engine.... whAT about trying a leak stop like "bars leaks" for radiators??
