Wipers like to stop where I tell them...

My windshield wipers would rather stop whenever I turn them off at the stalk than return to the bottom of the window. Any hints as to what could cause this?

Does your dome light work?
How about your Key in Buzzer?
Dome light?
Rear defroster?

These, and other things including the intermittant wipers are controlled by the Multi Function unit.

Yep everything else works. If I put them on intermittant they stop about 1/2 way, which leads me to believe the first responder is right, there must be some sort of contact in the motor which lets the mfu know the blades have returned to home. It just thinks they are home so it shuts down power.

Knowing that I still need to know what to do to fix it of course...

Same here, solution.

My wipers do the same thing, and have done since I got my '94 D1.
I spent hours trying to solve this problem. The only solution is to replace the wiper motor (so I've been told)as the park switch is a integal part of the of the motor. you can see the switch it attached to the side of the motor. Unfortunatly you can't just buy a new motor. The motor and the mechanics are one piece, costing around $200. Money I can put to better use else where on the truck. I 've also gone down the road of finding used units and both sent to me where dud too. so I've given up. (lesson when asking if a part works. Ask a questions that have a more detailed answer)
If your are lucky enough to find a repair, please post it I've see a couple of threads here and else where from people with the same problem. Your not the only one.

Same problem!

I have the same problem with my 1995 Disco. I mentioned it another post and an individual repsonded that it might be a problem with a relay (can't remember which one) and I haven't had a chance to check it out, so my answer is basically useless! But at least it gives you another place to look. Apparently the relay in question is one of three located behind a panel in the passenger side footwell. Listen for clicking...
