I am looking for information on trails in or around South/Central Indiana. Any Help for a new rover owner would be great.

Hey Mark, I'm from Indianapolis/Carmel. I'm in college in New York at the moment. Stop trying to find legitimate places now because there aren't any. Send me an E-Mail so we can talk. There are some places. Depending on how built up your truck is and how extreme you want to go I have a few places up my sleeve. I also have connections with almost all of the off roading rover owners in Indianapolis.

Mark, there area a few places around in IN. There is Story, IN, that place has a neat trail not like most of the other stuff in the area, I would guess it is about an hour due south of Indy.
Haspin Acres is about an hour west of Cincy. That place is a hill billy's wet dream. Lots of mud bogs, some tight trails, overall it is a fun place to go for a day or something just to get away.
There is funpark in Attica. There are some really cool places in Daniel Boone in KY, those are in my opinion some of the best spots in the area. There were some more trails around southern Ohio, but those are getting closed left and right these days.
If you want me to elaborate, or let you know about some other trails shoot me an email: [email protected]

Have you ever been to Story? OR if you know more about it, in what way is it neat? I have been looking for other places in Indiana. I am sure they are building another place between Indianapolis and Bloomington. I have an article about it some where around here. I will tell you when I find it.

Hi again, I went to story but could not find the trail. More info would be great and I would be up for meeting with anyone in south central Indiana.

I would be up for a trip to Story, but more information about the trail would be good.

I don't know if I could type out directions to the trail off the top of my head. I bet if you asked someone in the hotel, since it is the only building in town, he would know. Most of the pictures in my gallery are from Story if you want to get an idea.

I have done the "coombs road" many times. This is the road that you are thinking about when you mention Story. I have a map and story with photos about a Dual Sport motorcycle event we had there in 2002. You can see it at: http://howboucha.com/IA1.htm A word of warning. If you go on that road, do not go off of it. The CO's patrol it heavily and will nail you if you stray off the road.

If Ike Goss is reading this, please add some insight about when we went wheeling with the Defender guys from Indy and when you were stuck in the mud hole.

Ike can tell you how the CO's just appeared out of nowhere. Pilots will alert the CO's when people are on Combs Road.

The Red Bird State Recreation Area (Dugger, IN) will be open officialy on June 7 (National Trails Day). There is another property near Evansville (Interlake) that will be open soon. All details about Indiana Off-Road places are in my website, www.howboucha.com. You will find current information about Red Bird in the Forums section.

Howboucha John and Chris! (and everyone else too)
John, check out my other site. www.stromtrooper.com or suzukivstrom.com . I purchased a V-Strom to add to my collection, and loved it so much I started a site for it. Great machine. Poor mans BMW GS!
Chris, would love to, but I am trying to get everything finished up with our new house. I plan on having a Dual Sport rally this year for bikes, rovers etc and will let all of you know so you can come check out the place.
I am posting a new thread about Red Bird, make sure you check it out.
Keep two (and four) wheeling,
Brendan
