ok...i need to know what to do on a stock disco ('95) to fit these tires on it...i am basically getting them for free and already wanted to go with the OME HD lift. Now i just need to know what else...2" body lift...remember..think money...i don't have a lot of it...i know the tires diameter is about the same as a 235/85 BFG AT so that should be ok...what about width...what is the difference in width, and will it effect anything...thanks,
jess
i am kind of new @ this so please don't skip steps or forget to mention something...i am going on your word...thanks!!! u guys rock!

BFG AT's or MT's? to get 32x10.50's you have to buy some really strong longer bolts for steering stops. With 11.50's though i don't know. my guess is offset wheels and a lot of trimming cause they will rub on the body. or fender flares i suppose?

I just tried a test fit of mine and darn! Way more cutting than I anticipated. I will have to cut the rear fender even above the tire and maybe around the door as well. Now, this was on stock suspension with offset rims. 2" body lift will help for sure. It might even be enough that you won't have to cut the top part but I just don't know for sure. You could also lower your bumpstops a bit, since you're going for a 2" lift as well. I have not checked how much I would have to lower mine as I was not planning on doing that. I was mainly interested in how much to cut off and it scared me even though I cut fenders on all my 4x4s. I know there are a couple of guys here that run those tires, so maybe they'll chime in.

If you have them put them on then you will know for sure. then you can cut away

All this for "basically free" tires? How long do you think they will last? The outside diameter (OD) of the 235/18-16's is 31.72" and the width is 9.25". You're good on the OD but those tires are 2.25" wider than the 235/85's. Stock is 235/70-16: OD 28.95" & width 9.25". Do you have wheels to fit a 11.50" wide tire and how about the lug pattern on them? Cut fender around the door? I don't think you want to do that, what you can do is move the axle back a couple inches though....for nearly free tires. I think the whole point is to get as much articulation of your suspension as possible, not a wider tire.

But if you really want to do it... Click Here!

Isn't it ridiculous that a willys jeep with a 4" wide tire can go more places than most 4x4's :)

I have owned a number of willys and they are cool but way overrated, they dont flex much and the trails that they were made famous on are really tame by todays standards. just a good nostalgic place to start a build-up at best. and if you put anything bigger then that said 4" tire the axels self destruct.

I know a guy running 32 x11.50 BFG AT he has a 2" OME and 1" home made spring spacers and some 3 1/2" blue poly bumpstops and some trimming on the back wheel well(very little) he hasent touched his steering stops? says that the tires tell him when to stop turning.allthough he claims to wheel it, I have never seen it wheel but it seams to work on the street.

A Willys also weighs almost 2500 lbs less than a Disco.

my willys weighed about 1600 lbs and drove more like a ATV then a real truck, the only problem comes when you start trying to carry stuff. Add a passenger gear for 2 and the toolbox to keep it running and now it is destined to have a drivline failure on anything but stock tires.

and much to the contrary of what the reputaion is willys on 4" tires dont go many places. the stocker tires where only about 24" tall and couldent go take them very far

no if your talking a jeeper style willys with D44 front and rear 5:38 with a granny box and a twinstick on say some good 33" muddies and thats a different story. but then thats not really a willys just as this is no longer a land rover

'All this for "basically free" tires?'

well the thing is i wanted to fit 235/85's and get the OME HD lift...so all this does is saves me from buying the 235/85 tires...all that extra money can be spent on bump stops and what not...
also where do i get bumpstops?
thanks for all of your help...feel free to e-mail me...
lastly, if the tires for some reason don't give me the full articulation i want...when they where out i can go with a 32x10.50 or something...
you also mentioned lug patterns and offset...on the 15" rims i am getting i could use as much help with this as possible...because i don't know much about wheels...thanks,
jess

CORRECT me if i'm wrong but the lug pattern on
Discos is 5x6.5 so you would have to get rims with that lug pattern. Most places don't have them and you'd have to go with a land rover specific place such as gcr or somewhere
