Hi
I just bought a 1996 disco 1 and although I have owned many 4x4s don't yet know much about these. Please bare with me as I get up to speed
Thanks
Here are a couple of questions that came up so far.
What kind of hwy gas mileage should I get with a healthy 4.0 ltr v8.Automatic trans?
I am going to have to put tires on soon ( the ones on it don't even match, mud and snow rear, street tires on the front)What is the largest tire
that will fit with stock suspension? I'd like to here what you suggest about tire brands also.
P.S. I actually use my 4x4s off road.
Thanks again

Welcome Gordon,

Tire sizes - all the info. you need is in the tech section above you. Scroll to tires.

Tire brand - I hate it when people tell me this but search the archives. When it comes to brands everyone has an opinion.

Mileage - I learned quickly not to care anymore. When I looked it was something like 15mpg no matter how fast or slow (realistically SLOW) I went.

Thanks Fellas, My mileage is about 15.7 which is about right then, I was more interested in mileage as a general engine health issue. I live in Breaux Bridge La. which is right down the road from Interco the swamper factory so I know about them but since this disco is my service truck the tires need to be a little quieter. I'll continue to read the archives and posts, This looks like a really good site
Thanks Again
Gordon

Hell I just figured out today that I'm only getting 11mpg around town and I'm bone stock.

I average about 13-14mpg in the city and about 19mpg on hwy. Winter time sucks though. Good thing I'm close to everywhere I need to go.

Mine's about as stock as you can go though.
