Ever since I got my 94' Discovery back from having the Pass Side head rebuilt it doesn't seem to kick down very well. I used to be able to get it to kick down into 3rd at 65 or 70 but now I must be under 50 to do so. Also, if I'm not completely stopped I cant take off in 1st. If I shift manually its fine, and the shifts are smooth, just seems the adjsutment for the kickdown possibly got knocked when he pulled the head??? Thanks Todd 94' Disco 1 |

Yep, it's adjustable. You'll be fine as soon as you or he get in there and get it to kick down sooner. Good luck! -L |

Ok, So HOW do I do it. Where is "In THere". Is it an adjustment screw up by the throttle Body or is it electronic or all with valving inside the transmission? (Oh god I HOPE its not the last one" Thanks Todd |

Ok, NEvermind. I went and dug around some more and it turns out it was the Throttle that was misadjusted. The cable had stretched (or the adjuster loosened) so my lack of power was not just failure to kick down but I was only getting maybe 80% throttle. (I thought it felt slow lately) Anyhow, car drives like a dream now. Much more responsive and the shifts properly. CHeck your throttle cables everyone, you MAY be missing out on some power. l8r Todd |

Todd, Sorry I wasn't explicit.... MTB's link is to a recent thread called "Is this a problem?" which discussed adjusting the kickdown. "In there" was just under the hood.... But, sounds like you've got it nicely wrapped up... Glad it was that easy for ya to take care of.... wish they all were that easy, lol.... L8R... -L |
