Hi guys, I just picked up my truck from the dealer and was driving home when the ACE warning light came on solid yellow while driving. I took it back and they put it on the computer but no faults were detected. They turned off the light but as I was driving home again it came on. It stayed on for about 45 min until I stopped for gas. When I got back on the road the light was off and it hasn't come back on yet. Any ideas, should I take it back in even though the light is off? Jason, I offer no help, "sorry" but I was stuck in trafic one day and my ACE light came on. RED with the chimes...pulled over, shut of the car, checked the belts/fluid and links. All were fine, restarted the car the light was off and hasn't come back since. Like I said, I offer no help, but your not alone. Otherwise I have never had a problem with ACE, and I like it a lot. as an additional "no help" comment...i have not had that problem, but my '01 ACE light came on yellow and a few seconds later the truck plumed white smoke. it had lost a seal and pumped fluid all over the engine. luckily, i was already near home and was able to pull in the driveway a few moments after the incident. of course i did not pull into the garage as i was not sure the thing wouldn't catch fire as the fluid snapped and crackled on the manifolds. losing fluid burnt out the ace pump and i had to leave it a few days so they could find a replacement. so, and it may just be me, but that an ACE light scares me a little. |

Man was I glad to read Mr. Burt's post. Check this out. I have a 99 II with 56k, I got the oil changed today (@ the dealership) and on the way home, I punch the gas to get on the interstate, look back and a huge cloud of white smoke covered the cars behind me. 20 sec. later, I get the Red ACE light and the chimes. I pull over peal open the manual and it says Do not Drive. I pop the hood, there is not a drop ACE fluid in the reservoir, its all over the engine. Tow truck takes the truck back to the dealership and they cant look @ it till Mon. morning. It looked like all the hoses were intact. So I have 2 questions, is it going to be a new ACE pump just like Michael mentioned or is there something else they are going to tell me. I want to make sure I dont take it up the ole poop shoot $$ wise. Damn now I have 1 more question, is all of that ACE fluid going to mess up the paint, or any other engine partsman I love this truck, I have been so happy up until today. ..thanks in advance for all the help. Rick Jones |

hey rick... i know brake fluid will do a good job eating paint (lost some on the fender of my 70 chevelle once), but i don't know if power steering fluid will do the same (as that is what ace fluid is). one can hope that you were able to pull over and stop soon enough to avoid damage to the pump. i will keep my fingers crossed for you. the only apre-incident problem i had was residual oil all over the damn place. i hope good news awaits you, mr. jones... |

I have about 5k more miles on my warrante. If my ace fails and costs anymore than $400 to fix I'll be spending a weekend getting rid of extra weight and slapping on a gold ol' sway bar. Don't get me wrong I really like the ACE and would probably do it again but I don't think it's one of those things that's worth fixing out of pocket. |

Well i got the call today. Dealership told me one of the lines burst that runs to the ACE pump. The pump seems to be in good shape. The part was ordered today and should be here tomorrow, that plus 5 hours labor take me up to $695.00 for the job. |

Ouch that stings. Fortunately my light hasn't come back on since that first day. Jason |
