I just finished replacing my clutch on the disco via engine removal. Now I have a weird engine shut off/fuel shut off? occurs for less than a minute and then runs fine. The quitting occurs without warning. It has done it to me sitting in a parking lot and driving down the road. The fault code showing is 19. I checked the tech section and those codes are for the later 4.0. Anyone have a clue on this one?

Thanks,
neil

It's TPS/MAF fault. Make sure your TPS connection is good, you may have overlooked it when you were putting things back together.

Thanks Bryan,
I found some corrosion in the MAF plug. Sprayed some WD 40 in and wiggled it about. Hopefully we will get good contact now. Do you know how to reset the codes?

Thanks,
neil

Neil,
I have seen several posts on the reset subject, just do a search. I think there might be something in the faq as well. If you have problems email direct and I can give you my phone number and talk you through it.

Bryan,
I found the little brown box. It is located under the passanger seat of my 94. This is the same emissions box I reset the engine light with. It did not clear the 19 from my display. Is this the clearing procedure you are familiar with? By the way no more stalling. I must have disrupted the corrosion colony when I removed/replaced the MAF plug.

Thanks,
neil

I usually reset mine by disconnecting the battery for a few of seconds.

Word to the wise, know your radio codes first!

Neil,
No the brown box won't clear the codes.
Clearing the display
Switch ignition on.
Disconnect serial link mating plug (located behind right side cardboard kick pannel), wait 5 seconds, then reconnect.
Switch ignition off, wait for main relay to drop out.
Switch ignition on. The display should now be reset. If there are other faults, the next one will be displayed. Otherwise the display will be black
If there is more than one fault repeat steps 1 to 4, to clear each fault until the display is blank.
