Mine are all rusty and broke off when I was removing them today. Guess I'll drill them out and tap some new threads and go with better hardware. Anybody do this with any luck? Thanks, Brian |

I take my back seats out quite regularly to give you the little extra space that you end up needing when the fun police oops I mean the wife comes away. As the bolts actually are exposed under the car I sprayed them all with WD40 before removing them. When they got tight I just sprayed more wd40 on them and waited a few minutes. I always make sure the bolts are oiled before putting them back in. Have no problems now. |

Nahhh, not the rears ;-(( but one of the front seatbase torx' disintegrated when trying to remove... I was soooooo happy to realize it was the one directly above the chassis, that is a tiny bit closer to the exhaust...never mind: piece of floor broke up, so I had to make a 5x5cm backing plate for a new bolt. Don't you just love it when it happens. Use copper or aluminium grease on the bolts, oil will virtually disappear over time, but the metal particles in the copper grease will prevent cold welding. Use copious amounts on any bolt you put on the vehicle. Frode home.halden.net/discovery |
