Hello all. I've got a pair of Sarari 5000's that came with my Disco. I want to upgrade the bulbs from 55W to something brighter. How high can I go using the stock wiring harness? Anybody running 85W or 100W bulbs? Thanks, Mike B. |

I tried 100w and burned a fuse at the relay. If the 85w work, let me know...Dave |

Thanks for the info. I'll try the 85W and see what happens. If it fails, relays are only about $5.00, so I might go that route. Thanks, Mike B. |

I put the 135W bulbs in my Safari 5000s over a year ago. I wired these lights; they were not factory wired. I haven't had any problems with them so far. They're very bright! |

Would would be involved in fabricating a new harness via a relay to get more juice to the lamps without ripping out the factory harness? |

I've looked into wiring in a relay. It's definately an option. Actually, wiring a relay is pretty simple. You would use the one set of the wires (to the existing lights) to power the relay and need to run a hot from the battery (or fuse box) to power the lights. Then you would need to run wires to each light from the relay. Most relays come with a wiring diagram. In the end, the lights would work exactly the same as they did originally (only brighter). Thanks, Mike B. |

I ordered a set of Max Whites from Rover Accessories on Friday. These lights draw 55w, yet produce 100w of light. I'll post back when I get them installed. Thanks, Mike B. P.S. I upgraded one set of my Hella 500s on my roof rack from 55w to 100w on Saturday. The bulbs were like $7.00 each so for grins I thought that I would throw them on to see if I can tell any difference. I haven't tried them out yet. |
