Is there another waterpump that will work on the 3.9?

To answer that question, it is necessary to know if it has the serpentine belt or not. Those 3.9s that were fitted with serpentine belts require the same water pump as the 4.0s. The front cover is different and trying to use the incorrect water pump will leave you with an outlet from the water pump with nowhere to pump!

Scott:
I think you're stuck with the single water pump listing. That said, when I got my gaskets recently, the pattern looked awfully familiar. I'm still looking for an alternate. It almost looks like the old Ford water pump gaskets, but I'm not sure.

The buick v-6 is what I was thinking. Right now I can't take it off and go parts hunting, then be out for a few days if I have to order one. I realize something else could look the same but rotate opposite.
I am not familiar with the ford stuff.
Thanks,
Scott

It didn't look like the nail-head I tore apart many years ago, that seemed to just have a pump like the old chryslers that had no inlets/outlets, just the impeller.

I could be wrong, it has been a few years.

Man, I wish I still had that engine, but it was taking up toomuch space in the corner of the diesel shop mother used to own.

She owned a trucking company too. You should have heard all of the stories she used to tell about Teamsters negotiating! She never lost a grievance LOL.

Both of my parents were entrepreneurs. Mother leased truck drivers for ages and the Old Man owned a Manpower franchise. These were entrees to quite a life for a young man. I spent nine years in college and as mother put it, have lived a Hemingwayesque life. If things continue here at work as they have recently, I expect yet a new chapter to begin perhaps as early as tomorrow-they will either fire me or I'll quit!

Peace,
Paul
