have to replace the fuel tank in my 94 Disco due to the melted corner. I have patched it a couple times and I'm gonna replace now.

anyone know the part # for 3.9 vs 4.0 are they they the same ? can the guts of a 3.9 go into a 4.0 if they arent?

thanks all

Melted?

I ain't even going to ask how that happened...

I really don't know for sure Musky, but they look identical to me; inside and out.

yes melted!

chain of events

#1 rear AC dripps down on top of resonator

#2 resonator rusts out causing a hole pointed straight at the mounting bolt of the stock rear step.

#3 bolt heats up and other side of bolt melts a hole in the fuel tank

#4 muskyman throws out step and patches tank

#5 muskyman patches tank again

#6 muskyman decides to replace tank

test up date!!

the fuel tanks on 94,95,96 are the same until mid 1997 model year when they changed to a internal vapor/fuel return from the filler.

putting a later one in an early truck looked like a bitch ,although the tank was really similar the fuel fill, breather lines and pump location is slightly moved.

hope it helps someone

MM the 97 tank looks really weird compared to the one in my RRC that was a simple metal design, got to love that plastic shit...

Yea but Land rover also had a recall on the early metal ones because they would rust out.
