1996 disco 5 spd. Hand brake lever is all the way down, but red brake light stays on in the instrument panel. Pulled the center console out and everything looks as it should. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

warm rgards, keith zack

Are you sure the fluid in the reservoir is up? That light also indicates the status of the master cylinder.

If the fluid is low, it will stay on, if the sensor in the cap is unplugged or bad, it will stay on also.

Don't feel bad, Keith, it's a part of learning... I did the same thing when I got the Disco, too....

dont forget that when the fluid is low this could mean that the brake shoes/pads are also low. when you top up and then change the pads a few miles later, be carefull the fluid dont spill everywhere when you compress the piston.

Open the bleeder screw to compress the pistons - don't force old fluid backwards through thre system.
