Dear Discowebers,

Need some advice from experienced folk. I have a 2000 D2 with 64,000 kilometers on it. Recently, I have noticed that there is very slight seepage of oil from the oil pan, nothing that has stained the driveway, and when I check the oil fluids, which I have been doing about every week for the past month, there is no change in the level on the dipstick. The dipstick indicates that the oil pan is full.

The question is, is this normal. Can you expect slight seepage. Or is this an indication of the start of an oil leak problem? As for oil, I use the Castrol Syntec Blend variety (5W-30).

Thanks for any input.

Arman.

As the old adage says, if your Rover is NOT leaking, worry about it. It means it's out of fluid.
Seriously, though, all Rovers (and most other cars) leak somewhat. If the levels are fine, and it's not leaving undue amounts of oil on the drive, it's normal.

As an aside, I have a friend who worked on Jaguars in the mid-70s at a dealership, and he said they would have to fill them with oil before they drove them off the boat, because they would have leaked out on the way over!
Interesting...
