Has anybody heard of these guys? There is somebody on Ebay selling skidplates, bumpers, diff guards, etc. for Land Rovers made by "Rugged Rover." The seller didn't post a number or a e-mail address. Go here for the sellers ad:

i was actually forgot to post that link when i saw it yesterday. among all the bumper talk i thought it was appropriate!! that big skid on the underside looks like a oversized cookie sheet. hell.....there's an idea!!! maybe that is the idea......take a few bolts off and you baking brownies (the GOOD kind) on the trail.

Ya, but, do they work that is the question? I would rather have something that looks ugly and works great then have something that looks great but doesn't work worth crap..

Well, at least looking at the so called diff guard - the free hanging pinion slider (for lack of a better term) would last about .02 seconds and would do wonders when reversing! And then the mild steel u-bolts with the nuts hanging down don't look like they'd last more than a trip either

IMO :)

kudos to the dude for makin his own shit (a la the Legend of Garrett Porterfield :)), but his prices are a bit outta whack for simple pieces of chopped steel dipped in duraliner and then bolted on with corner store hardware....

also, never trust a guy living living in a place called Placenta

ho, it says something about being back up in an hour

i'm more in favor of using a stops sign or street sign bolted under the gas tank... it's galvanized and shabby chic!

yep....what rob said. well it does now. the first time i went to it said something different.....like 'site was not found' or that i was not allowed there. :( mu yahoo site does the same thing all the time. can only have like 10 hits a day or something week like that.

i like the sign idea. i think the uppercrust rover folks would think it's "cool". then again......so do i.

my secret life's ambition has been to slap a "Watch for Rocks" yellow diamond road sign under the front end as a front skid plate. Rob, you just stole my thunder and now my life no longer has meaning. Thanks a pantload.

pretty clever. :) i was hoping to find a place for a stolen steet sign that says "slippery when wet".
i have some older ones from missouri that are thicker than some of the newer ones. my room was covered in signs......"weight limit 10 tons", "radar ahead" (never figured that one out), some street signs and a slew of others i cannot remember.
i think my dad took them out of the house years ago and put them along the road, so he did not get busted harboring a criminal son.

ps: they were 'borrowed' using the front bumper of my dads '69 fj40. :)

use the "slippery when wet" for your bed's headboard....oh, wait a minute...cancel that...maybe you should use the "weight limit 10 tons" for the headboard

ba-da-bing!

you know, "Rugged Rover" wouldn't be bad above the headboard either....but don't be dipping anything in tar

blue, sorry for the buzzkill..

but it's not like i thought that up. it's something people do around here. it's well know that if your floor boards rot thru, you go get a street sign and weld it in there, you can buy better metal for the job..
