Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2001 Land Rover Discovery SD for 27000 with 10000 miles on it. Being in college, I don't drive it much and would expect to have about 60000 miles on it in 4 years. How much do you think I could get then? Thanks.

I would say pending on where you are located; I would say 10k to 14k pending on condition.
I have a 96 SE I bought in 98 for 27k I would safely say I could get 12K

This is what the dealer quoted my friend last year. He went with the Montero since he can get a much better deal (after the roll over report)

2001 Disco2 SE with dealer installed brush guard. 39mo lease residual value ~$18000 (15000mi/yr)
probably give you a good estimate

what roll over report are you talking about?

IMO the 2001 is worth about $3000 less if it's not CDL capable.

Brian, didn't they have this consumer report on Montero saying it is very likely to roll last year? After that, it was much easier to make a good deal with the dealer. At least for my friend's case

Funny think with the NHSTA and CR roll over reports. They don't seem to really care how surviable the roll over is.

It may not 1 to 1 , but there is a correlation between fatal injury and your car/truck roll.
A car with the strongest body will protect you and keep you inside the car. but the fact that you are bounced and shaked around inside the car during a roll (even with seat belt on) may likely to injure you.

But I would still rather being rolled in my disco than most of other SUVs

True... my point is that I would much rather know that the roof won't colapse on me than being given a rating on how likely it is for a vehicle to roll based on height and width with little or no thought given to the vehicles actuall CG. Anyone with tallent can roll or flip a vehicle.
