Is there a way other than taking my Disco to a shop or buying a OBD II scanner to get the fault codes? My check engine light just came on, Truck is running fine, but something needs attention. (yes, the gas cap is tight, already tried it). I also disconnected the battery for 30 minutes or so to see if it would clear the fault code, but it didn't... |

Not that anyone cares, :-) but... I must have not tightened the gas cap, after a fair number of start cycles (just from normal use), the check engine is no longer on... It must have been one of those temporary faults that reset itself if it's not seen for a certain number of engine start cycles... |

I think its 3 cycles. Might be wrong though. I think a few of the places like Goodyear or a local shop can read the code and clear it for $20. JK |

It was a lot more than 3 cycles.... but it's still off and I haven't had any other problems... |

Of course, you haven't said what kind of rig you drive. If it's a '95 there's a box with an LED readout under the front passenger seat. If it's a '96 or newer, get to an Autozone store, man. They'll read your codes and reset for free. They don't diagnose anything though-- you'll have to go online and get the list of codes-- but it's a great service and just about everytime I drop in there someone's out in the parking lot using it. Good Luck! Phil 96 D1 01 D2 |
