I did some offroading this past Columbus Day weekend in the Mojave and amazingly this is the first time I ever tripped off the collision sensor to cause the hazard lights to blink. To add to the story, it didn't go off when I was driving through rough terrain, but when I was coming out from a dirt parking lot!!! But in any case, I tried the turn engine off and turn engine on cycle and the hazards continue to go on. I even tried it 4 more cycles. Eventually after a while it reset itself. Is there another way to reset the silly doodad? Or is there a special sequence that I have to follow? It was rather annoying.

I even resorted to pulling the bulbs out before starting my drive home back to LA. Even tried yanking the wires off the stupid relay that triggers the collision sensor under the glove compartment (but that didn't work since the engine would not start up unless the device is connected). It wasn't until I got to the gas station in Barstow that it finally reset. Aiy! Anyways... Very annoying.

Hey Joey, that just happened to one of the guys I was wheeling with at MAR a few weeks ago. He went down a Huge, slippery, muddy, decline and plopped straight down onto his ARB, and I mean HARD! The ARB held up great, and I would've loved to see how the competition could've taken that hit! Granted it wasn't granite, but hard packed mud and rock, that he hit. Anyway, the collision sensor went off. The hazards kept flashing but the fuel pump didn't shut off. We popped the hood and found a little rubber coated button. It's located slightly closer to the passenger side, at the top of the engine bay. Larger than a quarter and smaller than a half a dollar. This is on a Disco I and I'm just going from memory. Hopefully someone else can chime in with some info or a pic. Good Luck

You can just pull the relay for the flasher. Same thing happened to me when I was offroading one time. Hit a big damn bump and it set off the flashers. Couldn't figure out how to get it to stop, so I drove home with 'em going. All I did was listen to where the clicking noise of the flasher relay was coming from, which is in the driver footwell on the left side. You pull that panel off and you can pick out which relay is doing the work by the noise. It solved the problem. Turn signals still worked and everything, it was only the hazards that wouldn't work with that particular relay out. Car still cranked and everything. So I just put a new relay in and it solved the problem. Hope this helps.

Jroc: I was looking for that "little rubber coated button". Maybe I overlooked that. I'll popped the hood and look again to prepare myself for next time.

John: I did pull the relay when I was out in the field, but after I did that the car would not start. The instant I plugged the wires back into the relay the hazards came back on, but the car starts fine. I just had to deal with the constantly blinking hazards. The hazards eventually went off after I drove some 60 miles and stopped at a gas station for a fill-up.

It happened to me once and I pulled the fuse and that worked for me. I later found out about the button. Apparently if you press it the flashing goes away.

Actually, you have to press it then cycle the ignition...
