Hi guys - I just noticed a weird sound coming from my 2000 Disco in idle. I can only hear it from the outside of the truck. The idle sounds firm but there is a hydraulic sounding release of gas every 5 or 6 seconds. At the same time as the sound, the idle drops about 500 rpm or so then plateaus again until the next interval. The noise cannot be heard inside the cabin and I don't notice a drop in the RPM on the gauge when I sit inside and listen for it. Any ideas? Is this a normal release from my SLS? Not really overly concerned yet, just curious.

Do you have ACE?

Leslie - Yes I have ACE. I took a good listen today. Seems less noticeable but still audible from inside the truck. Also, it makes the noise while driving at a constant speed.

Normal sound from a ace/sls package. It is pumping fluids around and adjusting the sls while it sits there.

That is reassuring. It didnt sound particularly nasty but just wanted somebody to verify it was normal. Thanks for the replies guys.
