The CDL seems to keep poping out under load going up hills. Also---the lever is very easy to move but it does not seem to engage all the time or properly. Could this just be a adjustment issue or more serious? If it's just adjustent- any hints?
Thanks,
Brian Friend

Brian,
How about just trading the Disco for a D90. That should solve your problem.HEHE!

Sean,

How about a even swap? I'll eventhrow in the running boards that I took off. And I wont even worry about the roller you broke off on the rock.

Hi Brian,

The linkage from the shifter to the transfer case is very basic so I suspect you have an internal problem.

Kevin,

That was not the answere I was hoping for. What kind of internal problem do you think it could be?

Brian, although I am no expert, I have just taken apart my dif-lock gear box and linkage and in my opinion it may just be an adjustment issue.

First, the nut on top of the t-case may be either stripped a little on the shaft or loose. Try to reach up from underneath the rig and feel where the lever is. Wiggle it a little and see if it seems too loose.

Second, the linkage bar can bend which would possibly cause the problem you described. Also the little upside down 'U' shaped linkage that connects the bar to the lever on top of the t-case can bend or 'slip', same potential problem.

Get under the truck with a flashlight and look up where the linkage bar comes down to the t-case. Next get a small mirror and hold it above the t-case where the lever is, with a good mirror you can see the nut and lever real well.

Have someone sit in the truck and work the shifter while you watch from underneath, that should at least eliminate any simple linkage binding problems. Good luck, JMcD
