jen's DII went to the dealer today (still under warranty) for its checkup and for some other minor maintenence. her abc/tc/etc lights have been on for some time. this is actually the 3rd time in to have them reset. so finally they are telling her she needs a new abs sensor. but of course they don't have one in. so she has to drive back down to harrisburgh (3 hours RT) next week again.
they are telling her she HAS to bring it back to have THEM install it. can't she have a reputable independent install it without all the bullshit about not having it covered under warranty and all that. that is what they are telling her. i mean it's not like a major repair.
so does she really have to take it back for this small item?
ps: what rotors are people using on their DII's? advanced auto has beck/arnleys for $55/each.
TIA

re: the ps..thepartsbin.com has Brembo rotors, rears are 47.44, fronts are 70.77. What is AA quoting for the $55. Front or back ?

Garrett,

I am using all LR Genunine crap. It was the only way I could make the squeal go away. Just order the LR stuff and do it yourself.

Also, I have some of the magnetic ABS sensors if you want. They have cut wires on them, so you would have to splice it in, but it may fix your problem. They came off of a set of plugs I had bought to extend my abs lines. I ended up selling the plugs, but still have the sensors laying around somewhere.

Garrett, I have had left front and right rear hubs replaced on my D2 at different times after those three lights came on. Supposedly only a Testbook(Land Rover exclusive I think) or similar computer diagnostic can reset those three lights once they come on. I have been to the dealer at least 3-4 times to have them reset. If you find another option please post.

She can have it done elsewhere, as long as she pays for it. But if it is a rear then you need a new hub usually.

How they could not have one in stock is beyond me.

I thought that if you had a bad ABS sensor it required replacing the entire hub?

I have a 02 Kalahari. I wanted to lift 2" and add some taller tires to gain some ground clearance. I called the dealer just to check on warranty issues. At first he said only springs would not be covered, but then started rambling on about steering, abs and such. What would be the best way to go about getting something in writing so I can know in advance what exactly will not be covered by the warranty?
