Looking to get tires for the disco. Either the Mich. Cross Terrain SUV or the Mich.LTX M/S. Between those two, any suggestions? |

Bill, I looked at both of these tires too. They both look pretty good but it depends on what you stress as important to you. The LTXs would be the better choice of the two for me but your criteria may be different. I eventually settled on BFG ATs because they were snow rated, plus was stronger on the off-road side. A |

I had the Michelin Cross Terrain SUV in the stock size 235/70/16 for about 10k miles and was very pleased with them. They even took me off road plenty of places. Just look at my photo gallery and you can see that I was places that those Mich's were surprising me. Did very well on the interstate as that is where I spend most of my time, unfortunately... |

I dig the LTX M/S over the cross terrains. I have these on my Tahoe, the main reason was they come in an "E" load rating which I wanted for towing. The cross terrains do not. Tom |

Thanks for the opinions. I currently have the LTX's (they were on when I bought it) and I put an additional 50k miles. So I kinow they last a long time. I dont usually go off road around here, I basically commute through city/hghwy about 450 miles per week. I've been told the CT SUV are more of a highway tire, and they are a little cheaper ($526 out the door) so I might go for those. |

hey there---did anyone suggest the XPC 4x4 ---they are the most expensive but are made exclusively for the land rover----if you are going to buy a cross terrain--you might as well buy the TOYO open country---very similar to Cross Terrain--better warranty and smoother-----I like LTX---but put the XPC on and I am only dissappointed that I am really poor right now----they are indeed the best though----good luck----- |

If you check out the Tire Rack Customer surveys, you can get some additional info: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/index.jsp CT SUV is rated in the HIGHWAY/ALL-SEASON section: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/highwayas.jsp The LTX A/T and 4x4 XPC are in the OFF ROAD/ALL-TERRAIN: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/orat.jsp Obviously these aren't scientific comparisons, but they are fairly comprehensive, and the more miles shown, the more surveys that were submitted, the better the info. Certainly no worse than asking for opinions here, just some added statistics. BTW, I just installed the CT SUV for my "on-road" tires. I am still shopping for my "off-road" MT's that will go on other rims. |
