This is bizzare I have noticed that my Trailer hitch warning indicator flashes once each time I activate my left or right turn signal. I've been told this is normal however , posts on this board have indicated different responses. I decided to pull off my rear pannel to inspect the bulb console for corrosion and found an extra bulb and socket at the lower portion of the lamp assembly ?? this portion of the tail light has never been illuminated before and it appears as though everything it is supposed to do something ,but it does not light up with the parking lights or brake lights . Can any one tell me what this bulb is for or how I can get it working ??. Thanks Ken |

Could it be the rear fog lights? |

Negative on the the fog lights option . The bulb is inside the red brake light portion of the tail lights. Any one else ???? Ken |

The trailer illuminates once when signaling to indicate that the sense-pin is not connected to a harness. When you are connected, both the indicator arrows and the trailer illuminate in unison when signaling. It's covered in your manual. e |

What Disco is it? My 1996 V8 has 4 rear indicator lights. Two on the bumper and two on the upper light console. If yours has only the two indicators on the bumper then thats what these other two unknown bulbs are for. |

Eric ,thanks for explaining that ,but I'm still curious what the extra bulbs are for . I have two on the bumper and two bulbs in each signal , however only the upper bulbs come on with the parking lights , the bottom ones appear to be non- functional... It's not that big of a deal , but I just thought someone else may have had the same problem at some point. Searches of the board for previous posts have been unsuccessful. |

On your binnacle, the switch below the rear window defroster is for the rear fog anti-collision lights. That is probably what those lights are. Easy check: turn on headlights and check rear lights. Have another person depress the button and see for yourself if those additional lights turn on. |

Ken... rear fog lights are red so it would make sense if they're behind the red lens. Try what Bill said but make sure your driving lights are in the low beam position. |

Al, I hadn't noticed a problem with high/low lights on the rear anti-collision lights. On both my 94 and my 98 D1's the rear lights stayed on regardless the headlight selected. However, the factory fog lights on my 98 ARE low beam only. FWIW. |
