Hi List,

I'm brand new here, just moved from a 1966 unimog to a 95 LR disco lifted 5 inches (3" susp 2"body) with truxus tires (look to be equivalent to 31" tires).

I have a question regarding MPG. While I realize I'll lose quite a bit with the tires and lift, should it be as bad as 8.5 MPG? If not, what things should I check first? Thanks!!

keep in mine that while bigger tires throw your speedometer off they are also throwing off your odometer a little to, you need to take this into account when figuring your MPG, but that shouldn't make more than about 1 MPG difference w/ just 31 inch tires. So to answer your questing, yes that sounds bad I get 11-12 in my '98 with 32 inch BFG M/Ts and I don't think that is stellar when compared to what I have heard others say they get.

I run right around an indicated 15 mpgwith 32" A/Ts (235/85/16 Jedi tires:-).

I'm more curious of your impressions of the Disco versus the 'mog.

Any suggestions where to start lookin for where my economy's going?

The mog vs. the landrover is like comparing apples and oranges. However, I can say that 4 wheeling actually got a little boring because the mog would literally go over anything that you would point it at with no problems. I would try and find the largest boulders I could find, and in 4wd it would go over nearly everything, and if not, one click to the front and rear stock mechanically actuated lockers and voila! you were over the obstacle. I loved my mog, but was ready for something new. Neat vehicle.

see pics of it at www.geocities.com/kyunimogs

thanks for your help,

I've got 2" of lift and 235/85/16 MT's (31.7" if I recall correctly) I get right at 14 on the highway, and 11-12 around town.
