I inquired about the weight difference of the new TJM rear bumper (sold at Expedition Exchange) and our stock bumpers to see how much weight it would add. TJM replied and didn't know the weight of the stock bumper of course, but said that the TJM bumper weighs 86 lbs.

Just incase you would like to know!

Does anyone know the weight of our stock bumpers?

i have it laying in my back yard. i can weigh it later tonight. i picked it up the other day and would guess about 45-50 lbs. but then again i am huge and "strong like bull".

John at EE estimated the TJM to be about 2 stock bumpers, so that sounds close.

I am not that concerned with it, just would like to see what the exra weight would do before I buy it, so I have no excuse to come whinning to this board like I have with past purchases.

:)

Garrett,
I have just taken mine off, and I would say the bumper with end caps weighs no more than 30-40 lbs. I might be wrong though, as I too, have been known to underestimate my own strength.

something that light can't make much of a difference. about the same amount of weight as a cooler full of cold ones...

you must be stronger than me. you could be right. i was just lifting it this morning. i have a pile of stock LR crap piled up along side my garage. i look like some white trash freak. i can just weigh myself with it. easy enough. i will bet 43lbs. that is my final guess!!!

Garret: I had just recently washed about 10 lbs. of mud out of it, so you might still have that in there. Or maybe i am just wrong. It has happened on ocassion.

Tom: it weighs much less than a cooler full of cold ones, but then I do have a large cooler, and I tend to put quite a few in there.

william-

having installed one just recently - the tjm seems to weigh more than stock - but what is weird is when i put the stock bumper into the box with the rear step - it seemed to weigh about the same. my guess is the tjm weighs about 80 lbs - stocker is about 40lbs complete.

also with a little extra weight - the rear ome hd springs have more preload and ride nicer...
