can anyone tell me the part number for the plug that goes into the back of the Disco dash switch for fog lights? This is in the switch block just below the clock where there is a blank space. I'm installing a switch for a work light there. Found the switch but need the plug

Jerry,

Do you know if the switch is the same as the one for the D2? I'm having Nathan at Discount Rovers try to track down the plug for me for my D2. If it's the same, I'll let you know.

What you are looking for may be on the following link...

ps...you can change the page numbers on the link from 01-24 (sorry I don't have them thumbnailed or organized yet) Also, I will check in the morning to see if I can find any part numbers on mine since I currently have my dash apart anyways. Feel free to save the pages but I would suggest opening them up in a photoshop program and reversing the colors (easier to read).

Jason, thanks for the link...a friend of mine just sent me a note pointing out that the plug is probably part of the wiring harness and not available seperatly - - makes sense. Where are all the salvage yards when you need one?

This part is easy to get from the dealer for around $12.00, and I have even seen them on EBAY. I just got one to hook up utility lights on my 95 disco, the hook up was easy and works great. I think rover connection has them also, they could also tell you the part number. Good luck

yeah, the switch is probably easy to locate - but how did you connect your wires to the switch? I haven't looked back there but thought it was a propriatary kind of electrical connector that only accepted Disco plug-in. I like to do these things neatly and usually over engineer stuff but I hate those plastic in line connectors.

My 99D1 came with a mystery plug that after some slight modifications (exacto knifing), fit the fog light switch. The plug is actually for heated windscreens. Mine doesn't have this so I cut the wires, capped, and taped them out of the way. I was then left with a nice plug with the wires extending for splicing. I think the plug is green. Feel around inside the dash. It should be taped up beside the binnacle in the dash.

AHA! clever fellow - I like your brand of thinking outside the box. How about the other side of the dash...? I wonder how many other unused plug/wiring circuit systems are concealed under the trim.

I thought that is what the instrument panel or "curve" is called. forgive stupidity if I'm wrong.
