I am buying a 1999 or 2000 D2 using a broker. Does anyone know where I can get a color chart for either of those years? Is there a website? I have the 2003 brochure, but some of the color names have changed. I know this isn't as cool as sliders or head gaskets, but I could use some help. Big decision you know... Like what color is Niagra? Is Oxford Blue is similar to the new Oslo Blue? I assume Kini Snd is tan... On and on. Thanks in advance for help! -John |

Kinversand is a metallic Rust/Bronzey-Orange. Pretty, but will date your vehicle a few years from now. Kent green is darker than the current Vienna green, has less "pearl" in it, but is lighter than the old Epsom green. Blenheim silver has more of an opaque hue to it than the current Zambezi silver, which is more of a "true" silver. White Gold is like a very light Champagne color. Oxford Blue is a VERY dark blue metallic. I can't think of the red name, but it was a dark red, not a fire engine red hue. Hope this helped some. I purchased mine from a broker as well and said get me the Kent green or the silver, and ended up with the Blenheim silver. I wanted those two because my wife hates white, and I wanted a color that would age well because I tend to keep my vehicles a long time and didn't want a color that would date the vehicle in a few years. |

Thanks, big help. I too want a color I can keep for a long time. I'm thinking a dk green, dk blue or silver. As for "HoYellow", Ho's rig looks good to me, but my wife thinks yellow cars are "lemons". However, if I could get a '99-'00 Trek with decent miles at auction prices I would snatch it up. -John Current 88RRC (Savannah Beige) Check for sale BBS! Help a brother out... John, if you plan on taking your vehicle off-road, I'd stay away from the darker colors because the scratches will show up alot more. And if you plan on keeping it long-term, that wouldn't be good. Just my .02. |

John I agree with Greg regarding the darker colours. Blenheim Silver is the perfect colour! The car stay fresh looking, hides scratches and dirt very well. It is also very contrasting to the black trim every where. My only gripe would be that is is not a true silver... Carl |

Yep, I agree w/ Carl. I would have much rather had something like the new Zambezi silver. Many times on an overcast day people have referred to mine as White Gold. Even the service writer put it on one of my work orders once. It does offer a nice contrast. One drawback, however. They are EVERYWHERE! |

Good point about silver, I don't do alot of wheeling, but I do use my rig to camp and pull a trailer. It gets subjected to trees, rocks and scratches. Good advice! And it was one of my original choices. Personally I don't care for the lt blue or lt green. So far what I have seen from the broker, there are lots of oxford blue and Niagra which I assume is LT Blue. See I knew color choice could be technical discussion... Here's another one, does the black or beige leather hold up better? I have gray in my rig that after 14 years still looks good. -John |

OK, here's my opinion on interior colors. To me, if the exterior is silver, gray, or black, the interior should be the Darkstone(gray). If it's White Gold, Blue, Green, White, etc it should be one of the brown based colors. Black can get by with either color, but to me the silvers and grays just don't look right with a brown based interior. A good friend of mine recently bought an '02 DII in Zambezi Silver, but it has the Lightstone interior. Just doesn't look right to me. My '00 with Darkstone has held up very well so far. No noticeable signs of wear anywhere except the rubber mats. |

John If I'm not mistaken Black was not an option on any of the previous models, ie beige, gray or lightstone was it. I don't any of the two is any better or worse longevity wise, more personal preference. Mine is Blenheim/gray. I like the look of the Black and Lightstone, but there is no way I'd want the upkeep of keeping it looking good. Plus it looks to poserish and sorta misplaced on the Disco, better on the RR. I saw a white one with gray leather for sale the other day and it was very handsome I thought. |

Niagra gray is dark gray, Rioja red is fire engine red, and Alvaston(?) red is burgundy. I have '99 in niagra gray and i love the color but 5 min after a wash it looks dirty. |

Mud Man, I like gray, but I would have never thought Niagra = Gray. Would you do gray again? Is your truck in the photo gallery? -John |

I think silver is going to date it more than some of the odd ball colors. EVERY car is silver now, soon it will go away except for benz and such which were always silver. Niagara Grey is nice, dark grey. Epsom has been around since 95 and is still very popular (try to get an epsom 03 range rover). Black does not seem to age well on rovers as it oxidizes and the clearcoat does not help. Rutland red is very fire engine red and though better than the previous rioja which is lipstick, it is not as nice as the early portofino red. Oxford blue is nice and very blue, darker than oslo which is too light. Kent and vienna are both horrific. Kinversand is orange, and ok if you are ok with 99 dodge orange. Ron |

Yeah, I'm staying away from Kinversand. Not big on orange. (Unless maybe I was going on buy a Roadrunner, that would be cool! Or as I said before, a Trek D2) I would consider black, but that's near the bottom of the list. I've been looking in the photo gallery for Naigara Gray. Sounds interesting. I don't think I've seen one. My wife likes Epson Green, I can't fault a green British rig. Thanks, -John |

Ah, the important Rover question, COLOR! After I asked here I decided to go light because of the upkeep of the dark colors. I love a black truck but I don't have time to devote to keeping it looking beautiful. I went with White Gold and Lightstone leather interior, after a lot of looking. Very pleased, but as with all these things it's all personal choice. Isn't it fun though? Karen |

Well, My D2 is Blenhiem Silver. It's great because sctarches don't really show up, and the color looks great in photos. When I clean the mud off her she looks downright regal. Cheers, Kennith |

John, I don't think that Niagra Gray was available until '01, but I may be wrong. If you start looking into '01's be aware that half-way through the year the t-cases were no longer equipped with the CDL stud. May not be of importance to you, but thought you should know about it. |

Niagara was available in '99 and '00. After that i think they switched to Bonatti gray. Niagara looks black unless you're in sunlight. John- I dont think i'd do any dark colors again. I a pain to keep clean and you can see my scratches froma block away. There's a pic in the trails section. "Pine Barrens December 2001" (haven't master that link thing yet). Its the dead one in the water. Fogs on the bumber, no snorkel. |

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, I came close to buying today at auction a D2, with 38K, all options but ACE and the one big thing that held me back was that it was Black. Very low on my color list. I also need to move my RRC. By the way I just found the watershed on D2 colors: http://www.disco2.com/howto/how-traveller/how-paintcodes/colours.phtml -John |

Mud Man, I checked out the photo, you rig looks good. Is that how you got the name "mud man"? Just curious, When stuck in a bog over the door frames, does the mud leak in? -John |
