I recently purchased a 99 Disco II w/ 31,000 from a wholesaler in California. The vehicle was purchased at auction from BMW Leasing. I was trying to find out if the vehicle had it's 30,000 mile service. Local dealer said Land Rover's systems are not linked so they can't just run the vin. Is there any way of telling if the vehicle had it's service?

New Disco owner, would appreciate any information. Thanks

I think that's BS. I bought a used DII from a wholesaler in Atlanta GA (non -dealer) that was orginally purchased in NJ(car-fax told me). I went to the Land Rover dealer here in Atlanta and they entered the VIN - up comes the info - not sure specifically what but it proves the computers are linked to a database. Try a different dealer.

I thought it was a little strange myself. I called another dealer this morning and got my answers. Good news is all scheduled maintenance and recalls have been taken care of. They logged onto a BMW Land Rover site that gave all maintenance claims, though they can't tell where the services were done.

Next time I'll have to make sure I'm not speaking with the parts delivery guy on a Friday afternoon!
