Need to replace the glass (only) on my '97 V8. Dealer wants to sell a new disco instead (well, a mirror inclusive of the motors, heating element etc). So I did the next best thing and had a (3mm) mirror cut to shape - only to realise that the angle of view is not the same. The OEM mirror allows for a wider that normal angle of view and an ordinary mirror is useless in this application. Is there perhaps a part no. for this? Alternatively I'll buy another vehicle's mirror and have it cut to shape. ta |

I just got a heated mirror (glass) for my '95 Disco. $48 I think from DAP. Still not cheap, but I was ordering stuff anwyay, and it was about $10 less than the dealer. And certainly alot less than a 2003 Disco ;-) |

Thanks Tom, interesting! Local dealer tells me you cant buy the glass separately. I'm in South Africa; mail ordering the glass only from overseas will be cheaper than paying R3000 ($300) for a new side mirror, but then I need the part no for a '97. |

Jaco, let me know if you can't get it (you should be able to order it from someone in the UK). If not, I could probably get one and send it to you, if you aren't in a hurry. |

Thanks Tom! I got the part number from Nathan. But in the mean time I solved the prob.. got a $7 universal exterior mirror with same angle of view, and had it cut to EXACT size. It took the guy some time cause the mirror is curved - but now its as good as new. I lost the demisting function tho' as the heating pad was damaged during removal. Shouldnt bug me too much. When I'm in US again I'll ask Nathan to mail me one. thanks again! |
