My 2000 Disco II makes a short little grunting sound from in front of the driver whenever it is started. Very brief and doesn't sound nasty but I am curious as to its origin. Happens as soon as the truck fires up and before it settles into idle. Kind of sounds like a little pig grunt LOL. I looked under the hood but no signs of piglets there. Any ideas?

Not 100% sure but I think its the ABS coming to life. If you have your foot on the brake you can feel it as well. Not to worry.

Ya - I think you guys are right. I applied the brakes when starting and I didn't hear the sound. I then started the truck with my foot barely touching the brake pedal and I could feel it in the pedal when I heard it. Thanks guys - always curious as to the weird sounds my new truck makes.

Actually, a member of our "rover gang" took his to the dealer for the same noise and they said they had a bulletin out for brake booster noise. May want to look into this. They also performed a rear breather extension i was going to put in a different section

So is this a normal sound or should I have the dealer look into it? The bulletin doens't state whether I need to have anything done about it.
Thanks.

Jason
