yes i have read some of the other posts but people tend to ramble. Basic question. 1. What viscosity of oil to use in a mild enviroment - average winter temp is about 40-50 Faren. - Atlanta GA 2. Switch in the summer to what? 3. Interval between changes? I see some go 5K others 4K ..... thanks in advance |

sg, My oil change Rules of thumb: -Do not go over 4000 miles. EVER! -10w40 in the summer and 10w30 in the winter. If you want to go 20w50 in the heat of sum. or 5w30 in the cold of win. then thats ok too. -Use a Land Rover filter. -Always use Mobile 1. -Keep the driveway clean!!!!!!! -Dispose of oil properly. (A good bon-fire usually works for me) Anyone Else???? -Chris |

I switched all fluids to mobil 1 in my 88RRC. And have been very happy. I had many questions too. Check out their website. Answered my questions, got me to switch. www.mobil1.com -John |

I've been a long time user of Mobil ! in cars, trucks and motorcycles. I've seen the inside of a turbocharged engine with about 100K miles on it that I ran on Mobil 1 and was amazed at how new all the components looked (I had it apart to fix a gasket problem). The first thing I did when I bought my Disco was to change to Mobil 1 in the engine and the diffs. I run the factory recommended viscosity, which is, I believe 10W-40. I would run lower in very cold climates but probably not the 0-weight in a Disco as it is not within the recommended range. My change intervals are usually around 4-5k miles. Cheers, CARL |
