Been to Pep Boys and could not find a direct replacement. Is there a cheaper option? Other make? Considered replacing only the rubber blade but not sure how to? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. |

It is easy to just replace the rubber. As far as I know there is no replacement for the whole thing unless you buy it through LR.... Just buy the 205 0r 210 I forget which one. I take mine in a hold it next to the ones in the box to be sure. Slides in and out, directions are on the ones you will buy. Is nice to only pay like $2.50 instead of the $40.00 the dealer wants..... |

Just get the refills (21 inchers) at any local shop. There should be a book to look up the type. Both of mine ripped off (a record, even for land rover, on a 1 year old vehicle). The type you need has is a thin metal strip and a rubber blade. Dean |

I just replaced the front wipers on a '01 DII. I used 21" narrow replacement refills, but you could use the slightly longer metric size -- don't use the slightly shorter ones as 21" is the minimum length. Be prepared to use your Leatherman or a needle nosed plier. The trailing edge of the wiper arm has two "pinchers" (for lack of a better term) that dig into the original wiper blade. Just (gently) bend these out and the wiper blade slides right out. You should also bend in the "pinchers" again when the new blade is installed. |

Thanks all a lot. Will attempt replacing the rubber itself. It is truly ridiculous the OEM rubber blades live such short lives. These are 6 months old, I think. Yea, the truck is not garaged, so what. I've been using the Silblades on my RRC for years - the silicone strip is red and they never even changed colour or tore. And it truly wipes great. Weakness is the metal portions of the blade does not fit very well. By the way, anyone using RainX on the DII windshield? Doesn't damage the windshield in anyway? I bought a bottle, but have not tried it yet. |

I've used RainX on all my vehicles for 15 years or so. You won't even need wipers for most rain, so if they fall off, no great loss. I replaced mine yesterday with Pep Boys narrow 21" refills - I know now why the stock ones fail so early (mine is a 2001). On the back of the stock wipers is the word "FRANCE". Mystery solved. -John F |

I couldn't get those pieces of rude crap in the trash can fast enough. I washed my hands after reading the word "France" on the back of them. I know of no other wipers that actually have the date of manufacture on them, presumably as a big 'FU'. They are sorry, sorry. -jsf |
