In crawling around under my disco to measure the catalytic converter, I discovered the source of a long bothersome squeak. There are several (4 I could see) "hold downs" (clevis pins with bushing holding a bolt threaded shaft that is bolted (with a bushing) to the frame) two each approximately under the rear seat, and two each under the rear load compartment. One of the ones in the back emits a squeak when ever the body shifts. All of them are loose. I've got a shop manual, but can't identify the part # (I'd like to replace all 4 with new bushings as well), nor can I tell if these are supposed to be loose and simply "capture" the body, or if they are supposed to be tight, holding the body to the frame. Thanks in advance. carl. |

I just ordered two of these...just described what I wanted - and in their reply they confirmed the ordering of "mountain rubber"... (Well...it wasn't THAT many...). You have two each sill. There's one directly below steering intermediate shaft. And two rear crossmember. THink that's all of them. My partcatalogue doesn't cover this one and a few other things - for instance replacement sills were not catalogued. Guess you should just describe what you want - there's not too many other parts to confuse with... Frode |

Carl, those are your seat belt frame tensioners. They connect the seat belt floor mount to the frame. The clevis pins are fastened in by cotter pins which will disentergrate when you remove them. These will need to be replaced as well. Use stainless cotter pins if you can.Remove the clevis pins, wire brush, grease and re-install. Tighten down slightly on the lower lock nuts to get rid of the squeaking. |
