I don't know if I'm doing the right thing, I'm about to get a DI with 58k miles for $12500, it is in good condition and it has leather and dual sunroof... I keep reading about DI at $9K to $11K, I just can't find any of those... any encouragement out there? |

Keep looking. At least as important as the price and the mileage are the condition of the vehcile and the level of service it has received. Especially, look for all the recalls and service notices for work that should have been done under warranty or under any special notice. For instance, the 96's should have had the valves replaced. Was that done on this vehicle? Get the VIN and take it to a LR dealer and have them check the service on the vehicle. |

another option I'm considering is to buy a used 2002SD from LR, it has only 7k miles and they ask 28k... I'm new to the LR world and I don't want to screw up, I'm debating between a cheaper old model or a more expensive almost brand new car. I guess I'm scared about the problems the old one may have but I don't know if I want to spend that much money on an almost new one when a newer model is already on the market... one thing is for sure, I can't wait to have one... |

buy the newest disco 1 you can find with lower miles and an extended warranty if you are concerened. if you see a vehicle that someone is bragging that they replaced this and that and the other thing and they say nothing else could need replacing, or you think to yourself everything that can break has, so it wont need any repairs for a while, STAY AWAY from this truck. seems once they start having problems it never ends. try to find one that has been to the dealer for it's services and it's records indicate not a lot of "issues" in the past. a land rover that makes it to 50-70k without issues seems to run well till 150k and on... if you are buying used, check to see if it has the stock michelin tires, if it has them chances are the person went to the dealer for new tires and servicing, i tend to take it as a sign the owner tended to the car regularly. thats not to say that if it doesnt have the stock michelin tires it was not cared for. just one thing to consider as you blindly walk up to a car on a lot. rob |
