Can the idle speed be adjusted on a 97 Discovery? It seems like mine runs a bit high, around 2000. In the recent months I have replaced the fuel pump (needed it bad) the fuel filter and the TPS also I have cleaned the stepper motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John S |

2000 RPM is way too high - should be around 650. Base idle is set with the throttle bypass hose blocked off ( so the stepper has no effect ) and there is an allan keyed screw in the throttle body ( I think ) that you adjust. I hope this isn't an auto idling at 2000 RPM !!! Bruce. |

IDLE IS ADJUSTABLE HOWEVER MUST USE TESTBOOK OR OTHER DAIG SOFTWARE TO SET PROPERLY. LAND ROVER HAS A SPEC NUMBER FOR THE PROPER "STEP" THE IAC SHOULD BE AT BUT CAN ONLY BE READ WITH SCAN TOOL. ADVISE TO CLEAN COMPLETE IAC PORT AS WELL BEFORE HAVING IT SET. ADJ IDLE SET SCREW YOURSELF MAY BRING IDLE DOWN BUT WITHOUT IT AT THE PROPER STEP RANGE HARD STARTING AND OTHER PROBLEMS MAY OCCUR |

I had the same thing on my 96 D1. Finally took it to the dealer and had the ECM reset with TestBook. Runs and idles perfectly now. Cost me about $120, but it was worth it after all the frustration I had trying to resolve it myself. |
