The search engine swears there is a string here about the remote door locker & the drivers side door lock problem I have but I can't locate it.

When I use my remote the drivers door lock pops back up and the door doesn't lock - but it activates the alarm and locks all the other doors. Dealer says it's a $$$ switch. I'd like to replace it myself but can't get back to the string to know what to order.
thanks
Jerry

Jerry:
The Rover door locks are mechanically pretty complicated. I have broken many of the little plastic parts, requiring me to either buy an entire new door handle assembly, or patronize the Rover boneyards.

The Rover door lock system is an electrical over mechanical system, hence the complicated nature.

Before you go out and start buying parts, open up the door and take a good look at the mechanism behind the door handle. You'll see a micro-switch that the locking cam rides on, a bunch of mechanical arms, bells, whistles, chutes, ladders (I'm not sure, but I think I may have seen Jimmy Hoffa in there too! No Elvis sightings, though). If you can see how everything inter-relates and responds to input from manual locking and the remote, you may be able to figure it out.

I apologize, I don't have the remote lock device so I can't really respond to that directly, but I have had to fix the damned thing. Be careful with the plastic cams! You can mess it up to the extent that you canlock the vehicle, but not unlock it. And, the alarm is set by the action of the driver's door.
