Warn, XD9K winch with 5 pin connection (to the remote). I'm trying to re-position my solenoid pack and in my haste, pulled the wires with solenoid out of the engine bay before marking what they were tied to. I have all of the wires (mind you, coming out of the solenoid pack) covered except for a little red, 14 guage copper wire that has no home. I think it's a battery wire, but not sure since it is MUCH smaller than any of the other wires. Can someone tell me what this needs to be connected to? Thanks! |

Actually, now I think that red wire is a motor ground wire. Can anyone confirm this? |

errr, red isn't a very common color for a ground wire. Get in touch with Warn customer service, they are usually very helpfull. |

Wait, I'm sorry I thought you had dismantled your solenoid or something. Yeah, the small wire is a ground (mine isn't red though) there should be a bolt at the bottom of the motor you can attach it to. |

Thanks Carter. But they use Black as the "power out" for the winch. White is the hot wire. I hear you though. But I've traced all of the wires and it seems to be the only one missing... I contacted their customer service (one guy there right now, I've spoken to him three time this AM). He doesn't know what color that ground wire needs to be, but it fits the description (14 guage, etc). Nor does he know of any red wires coming out of the solenoid pack (it seems their tech support/help is minimal). So I'm really stuck. If their customer service doesn't know, who does? |

Hmm, do you have a controller with a 3, 4, or 5 pin connection? |

hmmm. So is mine. Interesting. I guess it won't hurt if I try grounding it and powering the winch. If I get nothing, then I'll know... So long as I don't fry the solenoid pack. |
