My wipers on my 95 discovery are acting up. They will not return to the closed position without turning the switch on and off till they get there. They work on high medium and low but have to be returned to closed by messing with the switch. Also on intermitant they stop in various places on the windscreen. Is there anyway to fix this without having to go to the dealer and having them pull the stering wheel? is there just a relay switch? thanks for you input.

it sounds like it may be an electrical issue - in that case check the fuses, ground, switch, etc.

but don't ignore the obvious - the retaining nuts on the wiper arms may just be loose - they can loosen with time. Just use a knife or screwdriver to gently pry off the plastic cover at the base of the arm and tighten the nut.

Oh yeah, make sure you get the little wiring stub for the harness. After the 97 year (apparently) Landrover changed the plug and you have to buy a little stub harness to convert the plug on the new motor to the plug in the harness.

I believe it is the return switch failed in the wiper motor. Landrover only sells the motor and parallelagram mechanism as an assembly, so you must buy the whole thing. :(

I had to do mine last spring. Exact same symptoms. Works like a champ now. The busted switch is potted in the motor. I saved my old one hoping to disassemble and try to source the switch. Because of the way it is put together, I wasn't sure I could reassemble if I did get it apart, and as yet I haven't gotten around tuit.

Jeff,
do you happen to have a P/N for motor/mech mine has same issue replaced relay ,checked wiring same issue very easy for me to get used to turning on and off on cue. It's also funny that my rear wiper stopped working Tue, when it started raining in chicago and I was behind the wheel all day.
