My 97 D1 has been having a bogging down issue when going up steep hills at 70+mph. I normally have to shift into 3rd, but lately when i do this and give it extra gas, it sputters, boggs down and loses speed.

Is this symptoms of a bad MAS or VSS, or injectors?

If it were the VSS, it would most likely fail at the same vehicle speed every time, regardless of the attitude of the vehicle.
Does it do the same on level ground?

Could be lots of things, but (I hate to say this) it might be a good idea to find an OBD reader and see if you have any stored codes.

Oops, what about the basics? Miles on vehicle, last tune up? Plugs, wires, cap/rotor?

It only does it when I really give it a lot of gas to maintain 70+mph up steep highway hills.

I had the 65K full service done at the dealer when I bought the vehicle with 76K on it. I now have 97K on the vehicle.
