I have asked about this sometime ago but i am finaly going to pull the trigger and get new tires. Here is the question, 245 75 R16's on a stock 96 SD, what is the word? Fit? Modification needed? Brand? etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

245/75R16s are on my stock Disco ('99 SD, last of the Series I Discos). Dunlop Radial Rover R/Ts. I trimmed very little. Kyle's come up w/ flipping a bracket which negates having to trim, though. If you do trim, just do it a little at a time, until you have enough. I used a forklift to force the tires to stuff to make sure that I had enough trimmed. http://www.thatchedroofgarage.com/articulation.htm -L |

Thanks for the info. How do you like the Dunlops? How are they compared to the stock Michelins? Also what is this bracket flipping and where can i find out more info on it? Thanks for your help...Jeff |

I can say that, at the moment, I really don't think that I'll ever have another tire other than the R/Ts on my Disco. They're about the same on the road as the Michelins... off road they're a good bit better, IMHO. Actually, I think a lot better... no, they're not mud-tires, but they are 'traction' tires. Kyle said something about the bracket-flipping being posted in the tech-section, but I didn't see it. It was mentioned over on EE's board before we came back to D-web... I'll dig later, and see if I can find any info about it. Maybe Kyle or someone can find it before I do... -L |

I really appreciate the info. One more thing though. Would you suppose that I could retain and use if necessary the original size spare michellin in the event of a flat? Do you think that the two tire sizes would pose much of a problem? |

I would advise against reusing the stock spare with 245 75s. You can for short distances BUT what I would do is sell it on the for sale board (it is new right?) and get a matched 245 75 Ron |

I concur w/ Ron.... don't mix tire-sizes. You can post your spare for-sale here on D-web, and it should handily pay for your spare, or at least cover a chunk of the cost. -L |

The bracket is under Rear Fender Relocation in the Tech section. |
