I have a 95 disco, RTE 2inch lift,265/75, rear links......When I let off the gas at high speed, the truck pulls to the right. IF I push on the gas, it pulls to the left. Any clue? THanks |

James, It is real real scary yes? It is probably your trailing arms. Get under there and check the big nut and make sure it is tight...you will probably find that it is loose. Use locktight and crank it down real good. Good luck...let me know. brian |

A bent Rear Trail arms usually leans all the time. It sounds to me like excessive body sway. I would check for severely worn frame bushings, where the frame meets the trail and lead arms. The rear is usually the bad one. Have someone rock the Disco (Did i say Rock the Disco) while your crawl under observe the movement of the trail or leading arms within the bushings, if any movement I would change them. If you got some miles on it ill bet it slides more than 1/4 of an inch. You can check the large nut 27MM I think? You may get lucky and all it needs is to be tightened. Careful there is a shoulder on the arm so it will only tighten so far. You can go the CB approach and put a spacer behind the nut for a temp fix but the rubber is going so it will not last that long. I would change them, There great when loose for off-road but the handling gets really gets scary on road try a high speed brake with it fully loaded cargo area then you can appreciate tight bushings... |

In addition to the above, check for brake wear. Just before the pads on my D1 went away it had a similar problem. It's a long shot but an easy fix if that's the problem. |

The bolts are tight and the rear links are not bent. However, my truck has 173,000 miles so I'm guessing that the bushings are shot. I'll check them and my brakes whenever it stops raining here. Thanks |

Dbl check tire pressure, on stiff and or tall sidewalled tires it can be overlooked while stationary but when the weight shifts from the front to the back while accel/breaking the tire can flatten out a bit and cause more drag on one side of the vehicle. RT |
