Anyone know of a place to get a good deal on Disco 2 brake pad sets, frount and rear?

Anyone have a rough idea on cost for both sets.

AB sells the Ferodo's which are nice. I would check with Nathan at Discount Rovers and ask for Genuine LR pads.

I changed to the Ferodo pads about 1 year ago, and they are great. My old LR OEM pads squealed like crazy. The Ferodo's don't squeal at all, and the stopping power seems to be about the same (i.e., I can't tell the difference, although they're probably a bit softer material which is why they don't squeal).

Highly recommended.

For the Disco One I have some Bendix pads I got from Great Basin. They work great. I did this as part of a full upgrade with slotted/crossdrilled DBA rotors and upgraded to the vented RRC rotors at the same time. I drove a very twisty downhill road 2 days ago that induces fade on most stock cars but the new setup performed flawlessly. You could smell them working but I had no fade and mainained a firm pedal. Excellent.
I know the D2 is a very different setup but it may be worth looking into. I love Ferodo pads on my Road Cars and the feel of these Bendix pads is similar to the Ferodo's I have run previously.

When changing pads on Disco II do I need to change the pins?

James,
I am trying to recall...I'm thinking there are no stinking pins on a D2.

I guess. I called Atlantic British and they said that I would need new pins. I found it wierd. Also I got a manual diagram for brake changing and it said put in the new pins so that threw me off also. But I will take your word for it. Any brand of brakes I should look for the DII?

Anyone had a problem with the Raybestos pads? Or any other Pep Boys/Autozone bought products? Lay it one me.

I did mine with the Raybestos pads, and no there are not pins on the DII. I have had no problems. the pads are semi-metalic like OEM. I have not noticed any difference between original and Raybestos. Good pads for the money and Autozone can get them within a day or two.

if you order the feredo pads from atlantic british they include a set of bolts to replace the old ones - recommended.
