while on the way home from the woods late yesterday, i turned on my lights on my 96 d1 & found that only the headlights would work!! the instrument lights, tail, side, &front parking lights all refused to come on. the brake lights & turn signals all work fine. i of course checked the fuses--both boxes & couldn't find a blown fuse--for that matter i didn't find a circuit labeled instruments & tail lights ??? any help is much appreciated!!!

this was dicussed before and i had the exact same problem. i solved my problem by replacing the headlight/turn signal switch. it seems that it wore out and would on occasion caused the same failure you have experenced. i never had a fuse problem. when i removed the switch their was some electrical (arc) scoring on the bottom of the switch. as i said i replaced it and have not had a problem since. if you decide that is your problem i suggest you contact nathan at [email protected], he had the best price. good luck

sorry i didn't call--just got the message. but i took your advice & checked the switch--turned out to be in the connector--it was not making good contact, so i cleaned it & re-connected it & all's well again!! thanks for the help!!!
