How much of a performance gain will I get on my 96 Disco SD by adding a couple of Disco Web Decals?
When I had my Dodge Ram I was a member of the RTML and it's later incarnation DiRT. Both lists had thier own "club decals" and the general consensus was they were worth at least 10-15 hp and about 20-25 ftlbs of torque. Personally I didn't really notice that much of a gain, but I always got a warm fuzzy feeling when other list members noticed them and we had an unscheduled club meeting In traffic or on the trail.

not much horsepower or gas milage difference, however you will get the benefit of a limited slip differential

Only an LSD?? I would think that being a Rover it would atleast be worth a Detroit!!

I can't speak to any horsepower gains but my friends seem the think I am trying to bring back the 70's. They just don't get it...

There are to few DWeb stickers in the NW.

you have to lick the back of the sticker to get the LSD.

I thought the disco web stickers just gave you a little extra clearance under the diffs?

Depending on where you put them and how many you use, they may be just what you need to stop that annoying sunroof or wind screen water leak.

SPeaking of which everytime it rains there is water under the drivers side carpet of my D-90. Will a D-web sticker help me or is this only reserved for Disco's

No, the stickers are not reserved for only Disco's, they work on all LR models, just like this site has sections fore each model, as well. The DW videos aren't even Disco exclusive, the only model that hasn't been featured in one yet is the Freelander, but that will hopefully change....

Of course Axel you'd say that as you're the one selling them. I'm not saying you're making unsubstantiated claims, but do you have any proof to back that up? I think it's a given fact at this point that they contribute heavily to the foo of a Discovery, but before you go making wild, blanket claims of the performance of your sticker on ALL Land Rovers, we'd like to see some proof!

... sorry, couldn't resist ... :-)

Upon second thought, I think Axel had already answered my DEMANDs for proof. Discoweb.org has sections for other Land Rovers, and includes them in their videos, and I think that contributes significantly to the "foo" of Land Rovers in general, not just Discoveries.

I do imagine though that one should expect higher performance gains from placing a decal on a Discovery versus another model.

Related question: Does placing two stickers double the improvement, or is there a law of diminishing returns?

What amazes me is how many people that use this site, do not even own a sticker. Between Uwharrie, Killington, and The MAR; I gave all of mine away.

After I lifted my Rover, I had a lot of vibes and wandering on the highway. I put one sticker on each rear window in precisely the same places...and BAM no more problems.

the added weight of the stickers evenly compressed your rear springs just enough to eliminate the vibes. Nice application of DWeb sticker mojo, Chad.

When I'm offroad and I scuff the bumpers, bushguard, diffs, axles, etc, I slap a mini dweb sticker on the point of contact. Helps prevent infection. hehehehe you should have seen the underside the morning after my last run up to Crown King....

Good point, and a valid one, too. When Ho gets back from SEMA, I will ask him to make arrangements to run over a DiscoWeb sticker with a forklift. We will post the results at a later date.

Paul,
I was one of the lucky recipients of a Disco Web sticker from you at MAR! The performance gains have been substantial!!! More Horses, more torque, and I think I got a ARB locker in the back now!!!

Thanks Paul,

Ok, I have ordered a set of DWeb decals so I will be able to take advantage of all the mythical properties that they impart. If they work on the disco as advertized, maybe I'll try them on a couple of the presses at work because even though it says Mann-Master on the side of these things, they leak like they were made by Land Rover !!

That's good to hear. Now we have to get your Father one so he can reap the benefits.

Axel,

Where's my video! I am all out of sticker power.:)

DiscoWeb stickers have also been known to induce an electro-magnetic field around the vehicle, thereby vastly reducing the occurance of rust and corrosion. There is an unfortunate side effect to this: lightening strikes increase in intensity and occurance nearby. Keep your rubber tires on the ground at all times. (And pay no attention to the blue "halo" around my head.)

Doesn't a DWeb sticker help to reduce the ill effects of not carrying around a magical mudflap?

Andrew Clarke (Aclarke)

Good point, Greg. After reading this thread I am in the process of purchasing a sticker pack. I considered putting some small stickers on my front mud flaps, hoping that it might offset the negative foo introduced by my having lost the rear two mud flaps. Or perhaps I could stick some stickers right above where the rear flaps used to be. Maybe I'll try both - what else am I going to do with 14 discoweb stickers ?!

Maybe run around putting them on other peoples' Land Rovers in the mall, haha. No, that would likely be a disservice to discoweb.org.

Axel:
Forktrucks aren't good enough as that isn't "Real-World" testing. As one of the many who actually takes his truck off-road, I'd like to be the first to say that the stickers do hold up off-road and 1000% better than those from AB, British Bulldog (I know, the sticker was there when I bought the truck), and even Rovers North. The GBR sticker is of equal quality-from a purely subjective point of view as I have no proximate laboratory quantitatve, nor qualitative numerical data upon which to base this claim.

However, I do wish to emphatically state that the sticker which magically appeared on the back of my cell phone has suffered from the abrasion of being placed into my pocket repeatedly-holster wear? But, reception and transmission have improved, as has the taste of my coffee from having put a sticker on both my thermos and my RN mug! Oh yeah, I don't have to go to the bathroom as often when drinking coffee from this mug/thermos combination!

Peace,
Paul

What about the videos? I do not have one YET, but I am curious to know if they have the same benifits. Will I drive better after watching one? Should I sit a TV in the driveway and watch it with my Rover...or should I knock a hole in the side of my house and invite the beast in for dinner and a movie? I want us both to reap the benifits of the flick! The stickers work great, so I must believe the videos will work as well. Am I right?

The best way to watch the videos is drive-in style. Big screen TV in front of the Rover...

So, now here's a question: if you stick one on a Jeep, does that impart the jeep with LandRoveresque abilities it didn't posess before?

Maybe the jeep will start leaking all over?

Maybe we could take pitty on our non-rover friends to help them along.

If I use enough of the small DWeb decals in the engine compartment will it cure my leaking front cover? Or since I went to the 4x4 Center, and then to Rovers North today to get a gasket and crank seal, and a water pump gasket will they extend the life of the new parts? at least until warm weather appears again?

Can I get a volume discount to cover all the rust holes in my RRC?
Or maybe I should be paid due to all the advertising that would give. I would be one big rolling billboard.

I have three d-web stickers on my truck (one on each rear side window and one small one on the bumber just above the trailer hitch and I have noticed the following improvements: Girls tend to look at my truck a little longer when I'm on the road. J@@P owers don't make comments about LR being junk. I get about 2% more horse power and another 1 mpg.
These things do work.

The power of a Dweb sticker is stronger then the force.
