I don't know what it means either, but for what it's worth, If you pull the 5 amp fuse labeled " anti-lok brakes", you'll get it. Don't think it's got anything to do with the brakes though. there are other ways of disableing the anti-locks that just illuminate the fault light but not the check engine light. But to the point, I want to know too! |

..i don't think it's engine related. I have what I think are all the codes and the engine related ones only go through P1623. Rover (and everybody else) runs proprietary codes through the OBDII interface that deal with ABS, immobilizer functions, SRS, ect - maybe it's one of those. What year Disco ?? keith discosaurus |

1997 had a coworker call the dealer , they tell him there machine doesnt spit out numbers.. it gives them a description, "our machine cost $50000 " and then claiming what we used wont work. so they were no help. rd |

I got a code P1316 last week on my son's 96 Disco, then today it started running like crap and threw a P0300 (general engine misfire) code. If anyone knows what a 1316 code is, or has a link to Rover specific fault codes I would really appreciate it. |

The Spanish Trails site has the codes. The URL for the page you want is: http://www.spanishtrailrovers.com/Tech/Info/OBDII_Scan_Codes/obdii_scan_codes.html Still would like to find out what the heck the p3999 is supposed to be. |

P1316 is "Misfire Excessive Emissions Fault" and P0300 is "Multiple Random Misfires" I had these and the problem was a failed cat (plugged). If you run it long enough you'll also start getting individual misfires (like P0302, misfire on cyl 2) which can help diagnose which cat is bad. If you've got less than 80K it's under warranty. As for the P3999, don't have a clue. It doesn't look like a valid code P is for powertrain which may be Ok, but the first # should be 0 (for SAE registered code) or (for manufacturer code) there is no provision for other #'s in the standards. carl. |
