Given that the D2 is longer, has anyone fitted a D2 adventure rack on a D1 without mods to the rack. If so, does it look suitable or hang over to much.

thanks in advance for any input.

John

Why don't you just get a D1 adventure rack? Or is this D2 rack free? I doubt the D2 rack with fit seeing as it's probably 6" longer.

It doesn't hang over, it does fit, but it doesn't have any extra room, either....

D1 racks look better on a D1, D2 racks look better on a D2, but either will fit the other.

FWIW...

I am looking for a D2 rack for my D1 after seeing one I want one

I think it fits better and affords the roof a better amount of protection then a D1 rack

so if you have one and you dont wanna go that route...i'll buy your D2 rack

Just make sure you don't mount a 48" High Lift on your bumper.

John, when the ridicule gets to be too great, just be prepared to pull out your checkbook in the name of political correctness and you will be a-okay.

This is a very tough, and sometimes, narrow minded, unaccepting crowd of what is okay, and what is not okay, when it comes to the look of a disco.

I caved and spent lots of money making changes to be accepted by those whose opinion is so important to me. I was loosing sleep at night, waking up in cold sweats, and was not able to get a date.

Now that I have a longer rack, and wider tires, I'm getting offers from women all over the globe, everyone on Dweb seems to like me and my tasteful pictures, and I've made $10 million dollars from a 50 cent stock investment.

I say, NAY, to an improper rack or piece of equipment on your truck. You must follow the masses as I did, and put the proper piece of equipment on.

Harumph, Harumph, Harumph..........

Can I get a Harumph?

DISCLAIMER:

Just do whatever makes you happy and tell anyone who disagrees to Fuck Off............

Did I ever tell that joke about the difference between a catfish and a lawyer?

One is a scum sucking bottom feeder, and the other one is a fish!!!!

HA.........

thanks for the replies. The reason I'm asking is that I can get a D2 rack off a disco sitting at a car dealer for cheap and its basically new and not damaged. They took this 2001 disco in on a trade from some high school yuppie kid that put some gear on it. They want to put it back to original so that it will be more attractive to market to the soccer mom. I'm not cheap (usually) but from what I've seen, the adventure racks keep going for around a grand plus shipping. I would like the D1 rack so if anyone wants to part with one in the Western pa area, let me know.

Thanks, John

John-

Mounting a D2 Adventure Rack on a D1 is a simple and easy task to accomplish. The width of the roof gutters on both models are the same and the D2 rack gutter mounts fit perfectly width-wise. Length-wise the gutter mounts are positioned so that they fit at the extreme forward and rearward points on the gutters - BUT THEY DO FIT.

Whether or not the D2 rack looks good on a D1 is a matter of your personal aesthetic. Some people like it, others do not and still another group could care less about the aesthetic aspect.

Personally speaking, the D2 rack looks fine on a D1. It does have a slight overhang on the front and rear but nothing so drastic as to compromise the rack or the vehicle. In fact, the additional length affords the owner a slight advantage in available cargo space.

And I should probably note that I do have a D2 Adventure Rack mounted on my D1.
