It began as the rear door latch would not release. I had to force the handle to the disengaged position in order to be able to open the door. Now the latch will not even allowed to be prised to neutral and subsequently will not open. The biggest problem is this is my wife's Disco and she is holding my Range Rover hostage until this is solved. Having solved a driver door latch/lock issue several months ago using this forum, I was hoping someone could give me a heads up on a solution to this issue. Thanks in advance. Lee |

Lee: Is it the actual latch that won't do anything, or is it the handle that is not allowing the latch to open? It is quite common for the handle to become corroded, impeding its action. If this is the case for you, pry the pretty little Land Rover badge out (it pops right out) and the pivots for the handle will be evident. A few shots of WD-40 and you'll be on your way, assuming of course my cyber-diagnosis is correct. If not, sorry. Paul |

yeah, I had a similar problem with mine - I didn't know about hte logo popping out and i managed to worry the mechanism free with a screwdriver so I could clean and lube it with -40. I'll try the logo idea next for PM. |

Hi, Just another thought: on occasion, the L.R. latch mechanisms can get out of alignment, horizontally. That is, you may need to add (or remove?) spacers so that the catch sticks out further (or less). This happened to one of my doors, and it needed an extra quarter inch of spacers before it would open and close properly. The dealer did this, and they had spacers on hand that exactly fit the lock mechanism. The right size washers would do the same. Cheers! -Just Me. |

That seems to have been spot on. I lubed the latch with Corrosion Block, sans the LR bdage, and everything seems fine. Once again this board/participants have proved their worth. Lee |
